Friday 28th March 2008, the future of the Old School building in Station Road was considered. The motion before the meeting was
“That the use of the Old School building in Station Road for the purposes of the trust should discontinue and (subject to consent of the
Charity Commission) it should be disposed of at the best price obtainable and the proceeds used to modernise and refurbish the
Red House to provide multi-purpose facilities for the use of communities in and around Albrighton”. The result was 75.4 percent in
favour of the motion.
REPORT IN THE BRIDGNORTH JOURNAL
A public meeting in Albrighton ended with a vote in favour of selling the village's Old School building.
With a 75 percent majority, it was decided that in the interests of the community the building should be sold, with the proceeds from the

Villagers vote to sell Old School
Retained concultant Bruce Crawcour, who published the original report that stated future investment in the building was no longer justified,
gave a presentation of his findings.
Chairing the meeting was Judge Richard Chapman.
Parish Councillor Sue Pate, who is chairman of the Albrighton Village Halls Committee and also chairman of the Red House Committee
said she was very pleased with the outcome.
"I am delighted to confirm there was a 75 percent majority vote in favour of selling the Old School", she said "The result clearly speaks
for itself and it is a clear vote of confidence in the trust mamagement team. "Monies made available from the sale of the
Old School will be used to facilate changing the Red House into a multi-use community centre for the village, which I believe will not
be bettered by any event centre, locally.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported the management and fundraisers in our endeavours.
We see it as reassurance in our continued commitment to bring the project to fruition.
It was particularly pleasing to see some members of the Albrighton Parish Council giving their whole hearted support.
Councillar Pate added that it was good the village took part in the public meeting as it had shown democracy in the fullest sense
of the word.
She also said that organisations like the mother and toddler group, who still used the Old School, would be looked on favourably
with any future plans.
