Albrighton Summer Playscheme
And just like that the Albrighton playscheme has finished for another year.
This year was our biggest ever. We ran activities morning and afternoon, 4 days per week throughout August. We also provided lunch on those days too. All of this was provided free of charge to the children.
The scheme saw nearly 800 children attending. The Trustees and Volunteers all commented that they were all well-mannered, polite and very appreciative of what was organised.
We welcomed back favourites such as Corner Exotics, Richard Woodman (Fitness for Kids), Albrighton & District Swimming Club, the Crew from Albrighton Fire station, The Exotic Zoo, Jack Dent Magician, and Mattinson Training (nearly 50 children were trained in First Aid this summer – how fantastic is that!)
We also welcomed new activities to the scheme – Albrighton Table Tennis Club, The Art Lady, Diddi Dance, the local Safer Neighbourhood Partnership PCSOs and Kellie Bright with her jazz dance sessions.
Prize bingo, arts and crafts, games and our brand-new bouncy castle proved as popular as ever. (The bouncy castle is now available to hire if you book to have a party at the Red House.)
The whole scheme was rounded off with an end of summer party – 60 children, plus parents enjoyed an afternoon of dancing, competitions, burgers and hot dogs, buffet, sweet cart and fun.
Big thanks to the amazing volunteers who help to put on the playscheme events, arrange the rooms and prepare the food. As they say – many hands make light work and we always love to hear from anyone wishing to join our team of volunteers. (You can contact Mary Holden on 07919 243068)
Our thanks to Albrighton Parish Council, Albric Festival lodge and those who donated personally to help fund the scheme.
To all who came and enjoyed our sessions – it was so lovely to see you all having fun.
We wish you a happy and successful new school year.
